Dear Lily,
found your video on You Tube reciting the Portuguese alphabet.
Then proceeded to your website.
You truly have a Portuguese soul, if I may say so.
You comprehend "saudade"
being a Luso-canadian, I appreciate my ethnic background.
My dad always says I am more Portuguese than native-born Portuguese.
Obrigado pela sua carinho da cultura Portuguesa.
um abraco
Da. Catarina

Olá Fernando
Muitos obrigada :-)
It is lovely to meet another Fernando!
Thankyou so much for your comments and also for your post on your blog. Your English is very good! I think it is very true to say that the Portuguese have a great soul - that has certainly been my experience :-)
I promise one day I shall visit Porto as well - I hear it is also a lovely city.

I'm delighted to find this space in blogosphere. I came here from my site because, may be randomly, you visited it. I would like to say you write wonderfully and you can be sure my opinion doesn't depend of the fact you like my country. Of course I'm proud to live in a country which can offer the things that you speak in this post.
I'm Portuguese and I know that my English doesn't allow to describe well what I feel reading your posts, because I don't speak very well in English.

Nowadays, Portuguese people is crossing some bad times because the economy isn't running well. Government needs to control the public budget deficit, so the tax are hight and some recent public decision have affected the life of great proportion of people. Portugal is a litlle country...

However, I'm glad because we are a sensitive people with great soul and litle things are yet enough to put us well with the life.

Thanks a lot ... I promise I will return back here .

Oh one more thing ... My name is (also) Fernando ... lol...

Receive smiles, flowers ... and poetry,

from Porto, Portugal

Hi Cassandre
Thanks for translating. That's very beautiful! I think it's very true as well - sometimes we have to go away to come back to ourselves :-)

this means (more or less so you get a gist of it)

When he arrives in a new town, the traveler rediscovers a part of his past that he did not remeber he possessed. The stranger to what you are not anymore or to what you do not possess anymore is waiting for you in places unknown and never possessed.

I hope this makes sense. It is rather obscure in french too and got me thinking about it a good three minutes before I really started understanding what it meant...
